So I needed to supplement them w/ speakers in front. I originally purched some "marine" speakers from a local marine store but was very disappointed with the quality. I read about Poly Planar and searched the net and found these on Amazon for an incredible price. The quality is excellent and so was the price. You won't regret putting these on any boat. The insulated speaker wire is heavy duty and so are the front covers. They will rock the dock!!! The boat was produced in 2001, and one of the old speakers just stopped working. We researched the speakers on Poly-Planar's web site, then found the best price for them at Audio Allies (through Amazon). They are good speakers for the size, and have held up well in the challenging marine environment. However, the original equipment speakers have a embedded, threaded tube on the top to use to attach the speaker to the Navpod shell. On the working speaker (we replaced them both because the old speakers had a black face and the new ones were only available in white) that threaded tube was stripped. We had to use a Dremel cutting tool to cut off the head of the bolt in order to get the old speaker out of the housing. Don't know if that would also be a potential problem with these speakers, but they use the same mechanism. Hopefully we won't ever find... Read more |
