I wanted to put speakers into the tailgate hatch of my Jeep Cherokee. I kept the 6x9 Sony tri-axial speakers that were installed in the tailgate of my previous Jeep Cherokee, which was essentially the alpha clone donor of the newer Cherokee. Thought they would sna right in, maybe with a little grinding which any good shop could do. Surprise, surprise.It turns out that mounting that type of speaker, or even just a 6.5 inch speaker instead of the standard 5.25 inch speaker standard, involves using a Moto-Tool or a small grinder for about four minutes to remove a small amount of the tailgate struts (not the onew that hold up the door, what I call struts are actually probably best described as structural reinforcement, and I seriously doubt that the removal of several cubic inches of door material (fiberglas) compromises the structural integritity of the liftgate) but techs at both of...
