After visiting numerous department stores like Best Buy, Circuit City and the like, and listening to the quality of speakers including Alpine, RF, Pioneer and others - in my honest opinion, THESE ARE THE BEST COMPONENT SPEAKERS for the sub $100 range.They are clear, not too sharp on the high tones, and they hit the lower frequencies just right. I have them hooked up to an MB Quart Discus 480 amp (Amazon has this listed as: AMP 4X80W @ 4 OHMS 4X160W @ 2 OHMS) and they are perfectly matched for the 80 Watt rms. They are really capable of producing nice sound, and depending on your car - they can and will rattle the door panels at high volume :p - an inevitable side effect without using sound deadening material. I guess you could call me an audiophile on a budget.... *but aren't we all? especially if we're buying things from Amazon... I have my tone controls on FLAT (yes, no EQ needed for good sound) and the provide natural balanced sound, very pleasing. Now, don't expect thunderous bass (I have a sub for that), but it is excellent sound, particularly at this price. I compared to Polk and Boston, and these were right up with them. Strong bass yet well balanced to mid and crisp high notes! TOTALLY amazed with these for the $$$$!!! |
