I needed the slim mounts so they could fit in my 89 Camaro. But if I had the room i would have bought the Regular Polk Audio db651. These speakers are loud and have good highs but not much bass. Soon enough one of them popped and I was almost glad cause that was an excuse to get new ones. I decided to return some low-rate speakers I originally bought from best buy because I was being inpatient and didn't wanna wait for shipping. I then spent the same amount on these online, waited a few days and I'm glad I did that instead. These sound really clear. The bass hits pretty well and the highs are so much clearer than my stock speakers. I didn't realize how muffled my old speakers sounded until I got these. However, after a while, I have noticed the sound isn't as rich as I would like at the mid and high end, at high volume. It's become a compromise between hearing more subtleties in my music and hearing the mids without that hollow sound, when the mid range is turned up. The highs can screech, as well, but only at the loudest volume. If you're using a stock head unit or under 200w unit, these speakers are also excellent because the volume doesn't have to be turned up any more than with the stock unit.Overall I don't think I could have gotten a better speaker for the price. |
